Care Sheet: Getting Your Pet Ready for Surgery
It's natural to feel a little nervous before your pet's operation. This checklist will help you both feel ready, and our team will take good care of your pet from the moment you arrive.
A few days before
Tell us about any medicines, supplements or flea and tick treatments your pet is taking.
Let us know if your pet has been unwell, coughing, vomiting or off their food.
Give your pet a bath or brush a day or two before if you like, since they shouldn't be bathed while the wound heals.
Prepare a quiet, clean, warm recovery spot at home.
The night before
No food after the time your vet tells you, usually from late evening. An empty stomach keeps anaesthesia safe.
Fresh water is usually fine until the morning. Your vet will confirm the exact time.
Keep cats indoors overnight so they can't hunt or eat outside.
Take your dog for a toilet walk before bed.
On the morning of surgery
Don't give breakfast or treats.
Ask us before giving any regular medicine that morning.
Take your dog for a short toilet walk on a lead.
Bring cats in a secure carrier and dogs on a lead.
Bring your phone so we can call you with updates.
When you arrive
We'll check your pet, answer your questions and confirm your contact number. Please make sure we can reach you during the day. We'll call you as soon as your pet is awake.
Every pet is different, so always follow the specific instructions your vet gives you. If anything worries you, big or small, message us on WhatsApp at +91 81690 67671. We're always happy to help.
